What can I create for you?

Do you have a memory you would like to remember with a painting?

A location to capture in color and texture?

Or an experience that I can compose for you on a wood panel?

“Born and raised in Toronto, I always knew my paternal grandmother (b1889) was from Quebec. During my 40 years on PEI, I learned she was from Gaspe, and Michael and I often talked about visiting. Michael and I found the church and cemetery in a beautiful location, very hilly and overlooking the ocean. Many ancestors were buried there. A lot of them. It was a very surreal moment for me.

I met Valerie in Quebec City. She gave me her card and told me she was an artist, and it was very evident that we had the same taste in art and that she wanted to see what I saw. Valerie wanted to help me remember a special place.

We all need to know where we came from and my beautiful painting is now on my wall in PEI as a reminder, and I’m very thankful for my meeting with Valerie, that I don’t really think was by accident.” – Gail

“The Broadway Bridge is one of the many iconic bridges in Saskatoon, Sask. If you are lucky enough to live at the top of the bridge, like my sister-in-law, the view across the river is spectacular. The map in the border is a realtors map of Saskatoon from the 1960’s. She took the initial photograph, and I captured in a painting for her, this iconic location.”

Among the Bluebells

This piece was created for a friend’s mother to honour a lost daughter.

“This painting is a composite image. My son requested this image as a cover for one of his raps. He explained the elements he wanted based on something he had seen, including the silhouette of a king’s profile in the clouds. Can you see it? I was happy to oblige.”

Commission FAQ’s

Can I see your portfolio of works in the style we are seeking?

You can see all of my work on my website. Just click on the buttons below. I would be happy to identify work that is an example of what you are looking for.

What will this cost?

A visit to my portfolio, will give you a good idea of my price range. The two most impactful considerations are size and complexity. No work will begin until a price is agreed upon and a deposit of half the amount is paid.

How much input will I have and when?

I will create/take up to three preparatory sketches/photos from which to obtain your approval before beginning the commissioned artwork. These images may be emailed to you for approval. All sketches are the property of the Artist. Once the work is begun, you may view the work-in-progress no more than TWO times to make changes.

Can I speak with others who have commissioned work from you?

There are a number of testimonials featured on this page. I can supply others upon request.

What materials do you use in your commissions, and do I have any input?

I primarily work in acrylic on wood or paper. However, I also incorporate other mediums, such as, collage, woodburning, embroidery, watercolor and ink. I have incorporated customer supplied items into a piece, for example, a piece of crochet. I am happy to discuss approaches and mediums with you.
